To get comparable quotations back from Chinese manufacturers, send a specification rather than a product name. The five lines below are the ones that decide whether the prices you receive can be compared at all.

What to include in your enquiry

1. Product and quantity — the product name as you would find it in the guides in this section, plus the quantity per size and the expected annual volume.
2. Dimensions and tolerances — a drawing, or the dimensional range and the functional dimensions with tolerances.
3. Material and grade — the material and the grade. A material alone leaves room for substitution.
4. Standard and finish — the standard reference with the class or grade within it, and the coating specified as a measured requirement rather than a process name.
5. Tests, packing and delivery — the test evidence you want with the shipment, your packing and labelling requirements, and the date you need the goods.

What you will get back

Quotations from manufacturers in the relevant Hebei cluster, each stating the grade, the standard, the finish, the tooling position, the minimum order and the production time. Where a specification is ambiguous we will ask before quoting, rather than quoting the cheapest reading of it.

Typical ranges, for planning

Across the product families covered in this section, the usual commercial ranges are:

• Minimum order — commonly 200–5,000 pieces or sets depending on whether the part is stamped, forged, cast or moulded.
• Tooling — normally a separate one-off charge on a new specification, often amortised across the first orders.
• Lead time — typically 15–40 days for a repeat specification, plus tooling time on a new one.
• Terms — EXW, FOB and CIF are all quoted; compare on a single term.
