Can PET really replace steel strapping on rebar?

For bundles up to roughly 850 kg breaking load, yes — and PET cannot rust-stain the bars, cannot cut the packer, and absorbs shock better. Above that, or at bale-press line speeds, steel still wins.

Which buckles work with PET?

Phosphated wire buckles for hand tensioners, and friction-weld seals for pneumatic tools. The strap and the fastening must be quoted as a system — the joint is always the weak link.

Ordering questions

What is the typical minimum order and lead time for pet strapping?

The usual minimum is 500 kg per size; custom colour from 2 tonnes, and repeat specifications run 12–20 days; custom print 25–35 days. First orders with new tooling or custom colours sit at the long end of that range; stock configurations sit at the short end.

How should pet strapping be packed for export?

coils cartoned 2 per box, palletised; keep out of direct sun in the yard. If your shipment routes through humid climates or long storage, say so in the RFQ — packing upgrades are cheap at the factory and expensive as a claim.

Which quality tests should accompany a pet strapping shipment?

At minimum: breaking load and elongation per roll lot; system strength with the specified buckle/seal; UV ageing 1000 h (outdoor grade); weld joint efficiency of friction-welded seals; coil wind and camber check. Type-test certificates qualify the design; ask additionally for per-batch routine records, which are what tell you what actually shipped.

What goes wrong in the field with cheap pet strapping?

The recurring failure modes are: strap losing tension on the pallet; weak friction welds; roll deforming in heat. None of them are visible at goods-in, which is why the specification and the batch records matter more than the sample.
